Biography

George was born in 1917. He was the son of William Hottle and Cordelia McNamara. In the 1920 census George (age 2) was the son of William P Hattle in Indianapolis Ward 10, Marion, Indiana.^[1] In the 1930 census George (age 13) was the son of William R Hottle at 336 Randolph. Street, Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, United States.^[2]

George registered for the draft on 16 October 1940 in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, United States.^[3] George served in the US Army during World War II.

George married Darthula McCrary on 31 August 1940 in Marion, Indiana, United States.^[4]. She died in 1978. George retired as a gasoline tanker driver for Mobile Oil Company in 1982. He had worked there 34 years. He lived in Indianapolis, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Grace United Methodist Church.

George died (age 79) on Saturday, 2 August 1997, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers in Beech Grove.^[5] He suffered ventricular fibrillation and anoxia due to encephalopathy (brain disease). Funeral services were at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home. He was buried at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.^[6]
