Biography

John Hilding was born on 5 Oct 1899 in Malmö Caroli parish, the midwife Maria Nilsson registered the birth and the child was written into her household in neighborhood Pontus XII. On Oct 8th C. O. Dalm performed the christening and miss Sigrid Andersson from Trelleborg and office worker John Helmer from Finja were witnesses. The only information given about the mother was that she was born 1874, this was later corrected in 1905 to 21 Jan 1878 once the mother Karolina Ekberg (1878-) acknowledged the child as hers.^[1]

24 May 1905 when he is 4 years and 5 months old his mother recognizes him as her child, and he is moved from Malmö Caroli parish to Gunnarp in Tjörnarp parish 5 days later to live with his mother and one month old baby brother. They then move a year later on 21 May 1906 to Västra Sallerup.^[2]

The little family moves into Eslöv 5, Västra Sallerup 28 Jul 1906.^[3]

About 7 years later when John is almost 14 years old he moved to Brågarp on 12 Aug 1913 and is signed into his father's household on Aug 13th and strangely enough the same day signed out of the parish heading for Karlskrona Amiralitesförsamling.^[4]

John returned to his mother's household in Eslöv 5, Västra Sallerup 17 Oct 1922, the 23 year old is now a corporal. He quickly returns to Karlskrona Amiralförsamling on 28 Nov 1922.^[5]

He marries Ida Elvira (Nilsson) Härstedt (1901-1993) at some point between 1922 and 1945, as they are registered as divorced on 10 Sep 1945. The couple has at least one child together, John Inge Henry Härstedt (1926-1993).

In his more mature years he marries again at age 52, Astrid Margareta Gunborg (Andersson) Härstedt (1909-1993) on 29 Dec 1951. The couple stays together until his death on 10 Jul 1965 in Karl Johan parish in Göteborg, his last known address was Vantgatan 1E under the care of someone called Göransson.^[6]

Research Notes

It is noted an address in the birth book, ÖF (Östra Förstaden) kv. (neighborhood) 15. But I checked the house calls for that neighborhood and see nothing of interest.
