Czech was born April 13, 1909, in Elmdale to the late Anton and Mary (Gaida) Jendro. She grew up on a farm south of Elmdale and attended the school in Elmdale. Helen was united in marriage to Thomas Czech Sept. 27, 1927, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Elmdale. In 1932, they built and operated Tom's Pavilion in Elmdale. They then built and operated Elmdale Liquor in 1946 until they retired in 1958. After Thomas? death, Helen took residence at the Swanville Apartments. Helen was a lifetime member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Elmdale and was also a member of the Rosary Society. Helen is survived by two sons, Leonard Czech and wife Joan of Elmdale and Arnold Czech of Elmdale; one daughter, Dorothy Stanek and husband Ronald of Hoyt Lakes; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Czech; her children George, Edward and Florence Czech; one sister, Anna Matros; and seven brothers, Paul, Albert, Joseph, John, Fred, Peter and Frank Jendro. Casketbearers were James, Michael, Gerald and John Czech, R. J. Stanek and Matt Rollins.
