Biography
Louis was born in 1876. He was the son of Sjur Kanikkeberg and Engeleiv Rykken. He passed away in 1936.
Burial date was 11 Sept 1936. Cemetery record has spelling of Kanekeberg, and death cert has Kanikeberg. Another spelling is Kanikkeberg.
Louis was born in Minnesota and the son of Sjur Sivert Kanikeberg and Ingelef Rykken, who emigrated from Norway in 1866. Sjur Kanikeberg was born 1831 in Kannikeberg, Kvam, Hardanger, Norway, the son of Sjur Larsson Kannikeberg and Marita Torgeirsdatter Flatebo.
Louis traveled west from Benson, North Dakota to Washington State shortly after 1900. His sister was in the Snohomish County area, but it is unknown if Louis came here for her, or if they traveled together. His father was also in Washington, and died in Everett in 1908. In 1900, Louis resides with his brother Sivert and wife Bertha and their family in Township 151, Benson Co. ND. Sivert and Bertha remained in Benson Co. ND and he died there in 1920. They had eight children.
Louis married Laura Amalia Finley in Snohomish County, Washington in 1909. They had at least five children: Stanley, born 1910; Ethel, b 1913; Melvin, b1915; Shirley, b1916; and Kenneth, b1925.
Louis and Laura remained in Snohomish County, Washington where they owned a dairy farm.
