Mary Ann Lavey Dies in Paradise

Mrs. Mary Ann Lavey, 82, a resident of Orland since 1909 died yesterday in the Glenn Eden rest home at Paradise where she had been a patient for the past six years. Rosary services are to be held Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the F. D. Sweet & Son chapel here. And the funeral mass will be conducted Saturday morning at 10 in St. Dominic's Catholic Church with the Rev Aldan O'Reilly officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Lavey was born Jan. 23, 1884, in Wisconsin. She came west with her husband and settled at Orland when the irrigation project was just being opened up. Her husband the late Charles Lavey, owned a ranch south of town and was also one of the leading local builders for many years. Mrs. Lavey is survived by the following children: Mrs. Edith Holben and Mrs. June South, Redding; Gordon, Howard and Lewis Lavey, Orland; Donald Lavey, Seattle, and Mrs. Dorothy Gehring in Saudi Arabia. There are seven grandchildren. Surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Belle Moyer, San Francisco; Mrs. Agnes Prickett, Berkeley and Ed Kenney and Mrs. Mildred Ferrell, both of Fond du Lac, Wis. - Transcribed by E.
