Francis/Frannces Kentish was born in Hertfordshire before the 19th March 1605 to Francis Kentish and Elizabeth Taley*. A registration for his baptism on the 19th March 1605 of Frannces Kentishe the son, took place in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, England.[1]
Abbots Langley is so named because a long meadow "Lang lei" was granted to the monks and Abbot of St Albans around 1045. It is a large village with a mix of urban and rural areas, historically a settlement that goes back centuries and was mentioned in the Domesday Book.
Looking for a possible marriage around 1634 between John and Frances (Johnson)* Kentish, Or there is a possibility that this couple is related but not the Frannces Kentish born in 1605. The Grandfather 1580, Father 1605 and son, 1636 all named Frannces/Francis Kentish could have other relatives, similarly named.
In 1634, John Kentish the son of Frances Kentish and his wife Frances was baptised as John Kentish on the 29th July 1634 in St Marys, Watford, Hertfordshire. [2]
In 1636 a child was born to Francis and Frances Kentish, they named him Francis and he was baptised in St Marys, Watford, on the 8 Feb 1636 [3]
In 1639 Francis and Frances had their son William baptised in St Marys, Watford, Hertfordshire on the 26th March 1639 [4]
In 1641 Frannces Kentishe and his wife Frances had a son they named Foster who they baptised on the 16th March 1641 in St Marys Church, Watford, Hertfordshire, England. [5]
The death of a Francis Kentish was in the Register for St Mary, Watford, Hertfordshire on the 25th August 1625. (If this refers to the Grandfather, he would have been in his mid forties. It obviousy can not refer to the father of the children above. (Available on FindMyPast by Subscription) [6]
A Francis Kentish appears in the Register to have died in 1642 , with a burial in St Mary, Watford, Hertfordshire, on the 16th March 1642 (If this refers to Frannces the Grandfather at age 62, or the Father his age would be 37, or if the son, he would have been a child of six.) [7] St Marys Church of Watford is a Heritage listed building with a history reaching back to the thirteenth century. The Abbot of St Albans was granted a Market and chose the site, the church being built adjacent to it was St Mary's. The church itself has been improved as the market town of Watford grew more prosperous over the centuries. Some of the memorials and tombs in the church are over 500 years old.
A Frances Kentish appears in the register to have died at age 91 if the Father or Frances Kentish 60 if Francis the son. He was buried in St George the Martyr, Southwark, Surrey on the 13th October 1696 [8]
The Church St George the Martyr is thought to have been built prior to 1602 in South East London and scenes from the Charles Dickens novel "Dorritt" were set aound it. Various spelling of names occurs, the more common modern differentiation between the male "Francis" and female "Frances" is not apparent and we find "Frannces" adding a second "N" in some records.
In 1611 in St Mary's Watford, a marriage took place between a Francis Kentishe and Agnes Hatche on the 11th of September. This obviously was not Francis born in 1605.

Possible Grandfathers marriage. <An Elizabeth T and Francis Kentish were married in St Marys, Watford on the 23rd September 1605 according to the transcription on MyHeritage.com.[9]

Not correct Francis - A marriage between Frances Kentishe and Agnes Hatche was registered in At Marys on the 11 Sep 1611.[11] on the 2nd April 1626 their son Thomas was baptised [12]
