Biography
Elsie was born in 1897. She was the daughter of James Kentish and Elizabeth Price. She was baptised on 22 August 1897 in Bishops Lydeard, Somerset by parents James and Elizabeth. [1]
In 1901 (Elise) Joyce was living with parents James and Elizabeth in Bishops Lydeard with 2 half siblings. James was a domestic gardener. [2]
In 1911 Joyce and mother Elizabeth (mistranscribed as Ellen) were visiting a household in Jersey. Elizabeth was described as 'domestic gardener's wife'. A servant at the house was James Kentish (perhaps a step son of Elizabeth). Joyce was Elizabeth's only child. [3]
In 1939 Elise Joyce was living with widowed mother Elizabeth in Woking, Surrey. Elsie was a dressmaker. [4]
Elsie Joyce never married. She died in 1987 and is buried in Send, Surrey. [5]
