Something happened to Elmer's Mom/Dad for him to be living first with his grandparents and then with the Uncle Hugh/wife Hattie.

YAH!... his dad James M. Killam is living in Arapahoe with his brothers in 1900 and then he married another woman and on 1910 census has 4 kids. On both he is a Dairyman, farming. And then in 1940 they have moved to OREGON...
And are "Proprietors of an Auto Camp in Multnomah...
