Elisabeth Knott was born 5 Apr 1899 in Munich, Bavaria.[1][2]
She was listed as an elementary school teacher (Volksschullehr.) in Munich in 1925.[3]
Her father was a master baker (Bäckermeister) and ran Josef Knott Bäckerei and Konditorei on Lindwurmstraße 8 near Goetheplatz in central Munich. He and his family lived at the same address on the floor above. Josef died in about 1925 -- his wife is listed in the 1926 directory of Munich as Bäckermeisterswe., the master baker's widow. Josef's daughter Franziska had married Sebastian Högl, and he took over the bakery.[4] The Högl bakery remained in the family and at the same location at Lindwurmstraße 8 until its closure on 26 Jun 2016.[5][6]
At 27 years old, Elisabeth Knott emigrated to the USA aboard the steamship "Albert Ballin", sailing from Hamburg to New York on 16 Jul 1926.[7] In the ship's manifest, her occupation is "teacher", and she lists a relative in her home country: "mother: Anna Knott, Muenchen, Lindwurmstr. 8".[7]
She married Konrad Joseph Rauch shortly after.
She passed away on 1 Feb 1994 in Hollywood, Florida.[8][9][10] She was 94 years old.[8]
A Mass was held for her at Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood, Florida on 3 Feb 1994.[8] A Mass of Christian Burial was held for her at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dayton, Ohio on 5 Feb 1994.[9]
