Bruce was born in 1905. He passed away in 1967.
Bruce, according to ‘tales’ that I remember, drove truck cross country, did some work as an accountant, and taught school before he married Martha. He and Martha moved to the Pittsburgh area where he began work for the Singer Sewing Machine Store in Wilkinsburg, which his cousin, Ken Dorn managed (owned?). Ken and Boots lived in Wilkinsburg and were good friends with us throughout the years. In 1939 he became an insurance agent with National Life & Accident Insurance Company of Nashville, TN at the McKeesport Office, later on at the Oakland Office in Pittsburgh. He retired from that work, and spent a short time driving school bus in his retirement.
Martha died of leukemia when the ‘kids’: Sue, Glenn, and Fred were 12-10 and 3. Bruce married a year later, Alice Boarts, who had been a childhood friend of Martha’s. Indeed, Bruce and Martha’s wedding license had a place for a witness and the signature in that line was Alice Boarts. We kids were fortunate to have two great mothers – Alice lived into her 80s.
