Biography

Vincenza la Rosa is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Placido and Antonia la Rosa. I estimate she is born around 1673, twenty years before she marries.

Vincenza marries Gaspare Briganti on 22 November 1693. Her father has died by this time. ^[1]

Gaspare and Vincenza have at least four children: Biagia (c. 1702), Antonino (c. 1706), Rosa (c. 1716), and Placido (c. 1717).

I estimate Biagia is 20 when she marries.

I estimate Antonino is 20 when he marries. He is named after his paternal grandfather.

I estimate Rosa is 20 when she marries.

I estimate Placido is 20 when he marries for the first time.

Biagia marries Francesco Firmatura on 20 September 1722. This is the only record found so far that calls Gaspare a maestro.^[2]

Maestro Antonino marries Giuseppa Papania on 29 September 1726.^[3]

Rosa marries Michaelangelo lo Cairo on 25 November 1736. Her parents are both living.^[4]

Placido marries Rosa Cimino on 24 February 1737. Gaspare and Vincenza have both died by this time.^[5]

Don Placido remarries to Antonia Terrusa, a widow, on 12 June 1765. This record gives Placido's mother's surname, la Rosa.^[6]
