Alexander Landells was born on 19 May 1885 in North Shields, Northumberland, son of Alexander Landells and Marion (Ritchie) Landells. ^[1][2]

He married Josephine Mary Blair in 1917 in Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire. ^[3]
