Mrs. Franceska Meinert, widow of John Meinert, died last Friday afternoon at her late residence on High street, near Tenth, after six weeks illness of paralysis. Mrs. Meinert was born at Wurtemburg, Germany, in 1825. She came to Sharpsburg May 22, 1847. Her maiden name was Legner. The next year, January 17, she married John Meinert and eight children blessed their union, six of whom survive. They are Michael G., John, Mrs. Michael Clause, Mrs. George Snyder, Mrs. Herman Wiemara. There are 51 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Meinert was a devout Catholic and very dutiful member of St. Mary’s Church of this place. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon with blessing services and on Monday morning high mass was celebrated. Interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery.^[1]
