Biography

William Liddell, 2nd of Hammer, was the son of George Liddell 1st of Hammer and his wife Elizabeth Traill daughter of Thomas Traill, 1st of Holland.^[1]

William married Margaret Graham, daughter of Harie Graham 2nd of Breckness. It must have been a very religious family, as William was the great grandson of Archdeacon Francis Liddell, and Margaret was the granddaughter of Bishop Andrew Honyman, as well as the great granddaughter of Bishop George Graham.^[2]

Their children included:

• George, his eldest son, who married Anna, daughter of William Rendall of Breck^[1]
• Elspeth, who married William Traill, 1st of Frotoft in 1733^[3]
