Biography

Carmine was the brother (Me) of Michael LoCascio. He (Carmine) was born in Beth-El Hospital (Now Brookdale Hospital) on July 17, 1952. Carmine was a character who would invent himself from being the "Merry Mailman" through the Invisible man. (yes there were many, many other people he imitated) When he was 5 years old, he attended Kindergarten at Annunciation Catholic Elementary School (1957). Carmine, although not stupid, was bored with the work the school taught and would show his boredom to his teachers. In fact, in 1965, January one of his teachers abused him physically and right in front of me. She (teacher) Sister Marie Christine, was taken to task for it (she rammed his head into a hot steam pipe) and was transferred away from the school. Later I was blamed for her transfer but that is another tale. Carmine was then removed from the school and began attending PS 179 at which time he became one of the best students in the school. He went on to JHS 62 and Erasmus Hall H.S. After high school graduation, he went on the college and earned a Batchelor Degree. Carmine never married and lived with our parents. In 1989 our father passed and he went on to take over the family business. In 2000, he and our mother moved to Valley Stream, buying a house, where he became the "mayor*" of his block. In 2008, he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and after continual treatment, he passed away in 2012. Carmine at the time of his death had 3 nieces and 3 great nephews and a Niece with our mother, Rose. Another niece was born a year after his death. He is missed!
