Biography

Arthur Carl / Carl Arthur Magnuson was born in Sweden on 17 March 1891. He was the son of Charles J. Magnuson (1858-1942) and Anna Lena Larson (1861-1926). He had four brothers and three sisters. All the boys were born in Sweden and all the girls were born in Minnesota. The family landed in Philadelphia in 1898, when Karl was 8 years old.^[1]

His family resided in Big Stone county, near Clinton, in Minnesota in 1900^[2] and 1905.^[3] They were living in Ortonville in 1910.^[4]

Carl Arthur registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Ortonville. It states that he worked for Arthur Matthews as an automobile mechanic and that he is married, but does not mention children.^[5]

Arthur Magnuson married "Hattie" Hedwig Maslow about 1916, probably in Big Stone county. She was born about 1891 in Germany. It is not known who her parents were, but she came to America about 1906 or 1914, according to census data. They had five children;

He passed away in Minneapolis on 20 October 1966.^{[9] [10]}His burial was in the Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope of Hennepin county, Minnesota^[11]
