Anne Magoffin was born on December 14, 1897 in El Paso, El Paso, Texas. She was the daughter of James Wiley Magoffin and Anne Buford. [1] [2]
The 1900 Federal Census, taken June 1, listed Ann, age 2, as living with her parents James and Anne, her brother Joseph and two servants at 500 Magoffin Avenue in El Paso, El Paso, Texas. [3]
The 1910 Federal Census, taken April 25 and 26, listed Anne, age 12, as living with her parents James and Anne, her brothers Joseph and James W. Jr., her sister Mary, her grandmother Mary Louise Slevin Buford, her father's cousin Martha Mills and a servant at 1020 East Olive Street in El Paso, El Paso, Texas. [4]
The 1920 Federal Census, taken January 5, listed Anne, age 21, her brothers Joseph and James W. Jr., and her sister Mary, as living with her grandfather Joseph Magoffin and a servant at 1120 Magoffin Avenue in El Paso, El Paso, Texas. Her occupation was listed as teacher. [5]
Anne Magoffin married Frank Byron Fletcher on October 31, 1921 in El Paso, El Paso, Texas. [6]
In a November 1, 1921 newspaper Marriage announcement, it was stated, "Miss Anne Magoffin Is married Monday to Frank Fletcher - The old Magoffin family home was the appropriate setting for the wedding Monday evening of the lovely young daughter of the home, Miss Anne Magoffin to Frank B. Fletcher. The great rooms of the home, since El Paso's founding, has been a center of social interest were opened for the hundreds that were present during the evening. .... The groomsmen came first: .... and the bride's brother Joe Magoffin. ...... The bride's sister was her maid of honor, lovely in brown and gold. ..... The bride entered with her grandfather, Joseph Magoffin, who gave her in marriage. Rev. Fr. Francis Roy officiated. Henry Fletcher served his brother as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held and hundreds of guests were present. ..... Immediately after the reception, Mr. Fletcher and his bride left for a honeymoon trip to California. Upon their return they will live in a new residence Mr. Fletcher has just completed in Kern Place. Both Mr. Fletcher and his bride are popular in the younger society set. Mrs. Fletcher is a member of a pioneer family, prominent in the history of the city. Mr. Fletcher has business interests here." [7]
Anne gave birth to her daughter Mary Anne on August 5, 1924 in El Paso, El Paso, Texas. Her nine month old daughter passed away on April 27, 1925 in El Paso, El Paso, Texas. [8] [9]
Anne passed away on September 3, 1924 at the Hotel Dieu, 509 Chicago in El Paso, El Paso, Texas at age 26 due to complications from childbirth. She was buried on September 4, 1924 in Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso, El Paso, Texas. [10] [11] [12] [13]
