Biography

Farris "Pappy" Burnum Mansfield, 71, a truck driver of Austin, Colorado passed away of natural causes on Sunday, 17 September 1995 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital, Delta, Delta, Colorado. He was born on 1 March 1924 at Glendale, Maricopa, Arizona, the third of four children of Thomas Edward Mansfield, 1890-1955 and Maude Elizabeth (Miller) Mansfield, 1889-1968. He married Miss Ettie Mae Simpson on 18 April 1946 at Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Mr. Mansfield was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 79, Yarnell, Arizona. Farris had resided in Arizona, Alabama and California before moving to Austin, Colorado where he had resided for six years. He enjoyed music, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

He was survived by: his wife, Ettie, b. 1927 of Austin; children, Brenda Sue (Terry) Shearer, b. 1955; and Norma (Bart) Hampton both of Phoenix, Arizona; Joyce (Bill) Ogden of Austin; Debra (Mansfield) McCombs of Phoenix; Rhonda (Mansfield) Sesco of Austin; siblings, Thomas Lynn Mansfield, b. 1916 of Cottonwood, Arizona; Margaret (Dwight) Battle of Phoenix; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and siblings, Joe Lawrence Mansfield, 1919-1987; and Doris "Peggy" May Mansfield, 1926-1931.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, 19 September 1995 at the Taylor Funeral Home, 105 SE Frontier Avenue, Cedaredge, Colorado where the Rev. Steve Reinhard officiated.

Farris was cremated and according to his wishes his ashes were scattered at Island Lake on Grand Mesa, Colorado. The Findagrave memorial ID is 162526396.
