John Marion was a son of a Huguenot emigrant (1540-1790).
John Marion was the first-born son of French Huguenot immigrant Benjamin Marion and his 2nd wife, named "Mary" (Unknown). His parents married around 1708 or 1709, and John was born shortly afterwards, about 1709, at their plantation at the head of Goose Creek, called St. James, in Goose Creek Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina.
John Marion had a plantation in St. John's Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina. He married a woman named Frances Wickham around 1730 and they had 4 children:[1]
John Marion wrote his will on 23 February 1739 and it was proven on 5 March 1739, indicating he died at the end of February 1739, in St. John's Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina Province. He was about 30 years old.[2]
