Obituary Gordon W. Marlowe, age 76, was born on June 26, 1938 in Jackson, TN, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his home in Belén, NM. Gordon was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force and a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Gordon owned businesses in construction and later in insurance. Gordon loved flying and stared building sport planes. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Vara Rise and brothers, Steve Marlowe and Billy Rise. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rena Valdéz Marlowe, brothers, Frank Demott and his wife, Helen, Joe Rise and his wife, Cathy, John Rise and his wife, Karen and sister-in-law, Patty Marlowe. Gordon is also survived by his children, Chris Marlowe and his wife, Genevieve, Vickie Marlowe, Scott Marlowe and his wife, Robin and 10 grandchildren. As per his wishes there will be no services for Gordon, but an informal Memorial Service will be held at the Santa Fé National Cemetery at a later date.

Date: 23 September 1965 Aircraft type: F-100D Super Sabre Serial Number: 55-3738 Military Unit: 429 TFS, 474 TFW attached to 6251 TFW Service: USAF Home Base: Bien Hoa Name(s): 1Lt G W Marlowe (Survived) The second Super Sabre lost in South Vietnam within the space of four days was brought down as the aircraft was making its sixth strafing pass against Viet Cong troops. Again, its pilot was rescued by helicopter.
