Mary Mathias, born 1810 in South Wales, the daughter of William Mathias and Mary Rosser. On the 3rd May 1830 Mary was married to William Boyt at St Mary's Priory Church, Monmouth, Wales. They had 10 childen, born in Wales and England, 3 of whom died young, and 1 more born in New Zealand. William was a Royal Marine for almost 11 years until injured. As one of the 'Pensioners' William and his family were aboard the first Fencible ship to arrive in Auckland. The Ramilles arrived on August 5th 1847 with 67 Fencibles and their families aboard and this group formed the settlement in Onehunga. After her death on the 23 August 1883 at Onehunga, Mary was interred at St Peter's Church Onehunga.
