Thomas McCann was born in Ireland around 1820. He married Catherine Campbell around 1845 then emigrated to Canada and had two children -- William and Elizabeth^[1][2] -- before dying some time between 1847 and 1850.

Research Notes

William was born in 1845 to 1846, and is the oldest child, making the marriage date (if they married) 1845 at maximum.

Elizabeth was born in 1847, so Thomas had to die after 1846, and before 1850 because Joseph Page and Catherine had a son, John, that was a year old at the time of the 1851 census. Joseph and Catherine might've married in 1849, about a year before John was born. Thomas died between 1846 and 1849, most likely.
