Biography

James was born on October 10, 1880 in Linn County, Kansas and a son of Richard McClaughry and Mary Graham. He was a private in Company F (Band) of the 6th Missouri Infantry during the Spanish American War in 1898. [1] [2] [3] On September 12, 1918, he registered for the World War I draft and names his wife, Verna, as his nearest relative. He described himself as being of medium height, stout build, blue eyes and brown hair. [4][5] He was required in 1942 to filled out a 1942 Draft Reristration Card. [6] He passed away on October 8, 1953 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri and buried in the Woodland Cemetery in Mound city, Linn County, Kansas. His death certificate states he was in the Spanish American War and died of prostate cancer. [7]
