Biography
After farm work growing up, some of which he was limited in doing due to "lameness," Sterling attended Hanover college and became a teacher. He married Freda Gardner in December 1923. His obituary describes him as being "of a quiet retiring nature" but with "many friends." He died aged 41 of "sleeping sickness."
