Biography

When Robert McGhie was born on July 15, 1807, in Lanark, Lanarkshire, Scotland, his father, James, was 44 and his mother, Mary, was 40. On August 12, 1817 he arrived with his family in Philadelphia aboard the Schooner Industry. He married Margaret Lee ib 17 Jun 1830 in Jefferson, Ohio and they had four sons and three daughters between 1833 and 1845. He died on September 15, 1873, at the age of 66, and was buried in Toronto, Ohio.
