Joseph McMurdie was born on 19th March 1793 in St Brides Middlesex. He was the son of John Mackmurdie and Sarah Emptage. Joseph was baptised on the 14th April 1793 in St Bride's, London.
Joseph became a member of the The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain on the 1 October 1815 as confirmed in the Society's book, “Members of The Royal Society of Musicians 1738-1984” on Page 99
