Erich Otto Meinert was born in Burgstadt, Germany on 18 April 1888,[1] the son of Otto Meinert and his wife Bertha. The family emigrated to America not long after his birth, settling first in New York state, where Erich's brother Walter was born in about 1891, and in Wisconsin by about 1894.
In 1905, Erich was living in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, with his parents and younger siblings. His father worked as a saloonkeeper and Erich worked as a cigarmaker.
Erich was married to Nina (Rau) Meinert.
He died on 13 July 1964 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
