Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Mills was born the 28th of 2d mo 1807 probably in Logan County, Ohio, near the Goshen/Darby Creek Friends meeting, a daughter of John and Mary (Davis) Mills. In 1816 her family moved to New Garden Friends Meeting in Wayne County, Indiana. Springfield Friends Meeting was set off from New Garden in 1820, including Betsy's family, and it was at Springfield Meeting where she married Joshua Canaday 11m 22 1826. In 1840 she, her husband, and children were granted a certificate to transfer to Mississinewa Friends Meeting. In 1841 the family transferred to Back Creek Meeting in Indiana, then in 1849 from Back Creek back to Mississinewa. In 1853 Betsy Ann was appointed an overseer for the Sugar Creek meeting under the care of the Pipe Creek-Amboy Monthly Meeting. She died on 4th mo 3 1853 and was buried in the burying ground of the Pipe Creek-Amboy Friends Meeting. She had seven children: Oliver (b. 1830); Thomas Elwood (b. 1833); Martha Ellen (b. 1836); Maria Jane (b. 1838); Huldah (b. 1840); Barclay (b. 1844); and Cyrus (b. 1850)
