Robert Moir was born on March 8, 1778 in Bowhapple, Kincardine, Doune, Perthshire, Scotland. He is the son of George Moir and Janet Adam.

He marries to Elizabeth Moir, daughter of James Moir and Isabel MacKenzie on February 16, 1811 in Kilmadock by Doune, Perth, Scotland. She was born on October 15, 1789 in Kilmadock.

Elizabeth dies in 1852, Robert dies in about 1868 in Kincardine, Doune, Perthshire, Scotland. ^[1]
