Joseph-Marie Moisan was born on August 10, 1724 in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Canada, Nouvelle-France, son of Michel Moisan (1687–1758) and Marie Thérèse Bonhomme (~1691–1751).
Joseph-Marie (26) married Agnès Meunier (18) (born on February 24, 1732 in L'Ancienne-Lorette; daughter of Jean Meunier and Marguerite (Vésinat) Vézina) on February 22, 1751 in L'Ancienne-Lorette. Their children were:
- Joseph Francois Moisan (1753–1830)
- Pierre Moisan (1755–>1805)
- Marie Marguerite Moisan (~1760–1833)
- Félicité Moisan (1761–1832)
Joseph-Marie died on December 17, 1790 in Province de Québec, aged 66.
