Biography

Abraham Moore/Moar/Moors III was born January 11, 1691/2 in Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts.[1] He was the son of Abraham Moors II and Priscilla Poor Moors.[2][3] [4]

He moved to Groton, Middlesex County, and was married there November 11, 1717 to Elizabeth Gilson, daughter of Joseph Gilson and Elizabeth Lawrence Gilson.[5][6]

Elizabeth died in 1770; Abraham died in Groton March 3, 1780.[7] He is buried in the Old Burying Ground, Groton; his gravestone inscription reads, in part, "A mild, humane, and honest man, a peaceable and regular citizen; an affectionate and tender husband and parent".[8]

Abstract of the will of Abraham Moors dated October 5, 1771, probated April 20, 1780 and administration granted to his son, Joseph, bequeaths to daughters Elizabeth Russell, Susanna Stone and Jemima Longley; to sons Timothy and Joseph, and to heirs of deceased son Jonathan, late of "district of Shirley" to his grandson Isac Moors Farwell, his sister Lydia Ireland and his brother Joseph Farwell.[9]
