Biography

Joseph Morcom was born in Cornwall, England.

Joseph Morcum, son of William and Elisabeth, was baptised 27 Apr 1811 in Mawgan in Meneage, Cornwall, England. ^[1]

He married Maria Mitchells 24 Aug 1837 in Constantine, Cornwall. ^[2]

Joseph and Maria, with their daughter Johanna, emigrated to South Australia on the Charlotte Jane, arriving at Port Adelaide on 14 Jan 1852. Also on board are Joseph's parents William and Elizabeth.^[3]

He passed away age 82 on 25 Jul 1892 in Murdochs Hill, South Australia ^[4] and was buried in West Terrace Cemetery. ^[5]

MORCOM. On the 25th July, at Woodside, late of Mary-street, Unley, Joseph Morcom, the beloved father of J. J. Morcom, of Balaklava, and Wm. Morcom, of Halifax-street, Adelaide, aged 81 years and 5 months. Arrived in the colony January 14, 1852, by the Charlotte Jane. ^[6]
