Esther (Mosely) Menzie is a member of Clan Menzies.

Esther was born in 1822.

We know that she married Andrew Beach some time prior to 1850 since they appear together in that census^[1].

At the time of the New York census in 1855, Andrew and Esther's household in Hamilton, Madison County included Esther's 15 year old sister, Vashte Case, and a boarder^[2].

The 1860 federal census enumerated Andrew and Esther as still living in Hamilton. As in previous censuses, Andrew's occupation is listed as farmer. Their household included 20 year old farm laborer, George Bright^[3].

Andrew died in 1862 leaving Esther a widow. According to her 1909 obituary, she married George W. Menzie 43 years earlier which places their marriage in 1866.

At the time of the 1870 census, George and Esther were recorded as living in Canastota, New York. George's occupation is listed as retired farmer^[4].

The 1875 New York census showed that George and Esther's situation had remained the same compared with 1870^[5]. Their household also included a female boarder, Sophia Hale.

George and Esther also appeared in the 1880 federal census^[6]. Sophia Hale, a dressmaker, was still boarding with them.

George died on June 16, 1882.

At the time of the New York 1892 census, Esther was 69 years old and appeared to be living by herself in Lenox^[7].

The 1900 census confirms that Esther did not have any children of her own. At this time, she was living in Canastota. Her household included a boarder, Elnora Warrick^[8].

When New York enumerated its population in 1905, Esther was still head of her own household in Canastota^[9].

Esther passed away in 1909 at the age of 87. She is buried in Canastota's Mount Pleasant Cemetery^[10].
