Thomas was born in 1833. He passed away in 1912.
"Thomas Mudd, it is said, was a charitable, sober, industrious, honest and truthful man who was tall and thin with flowing white hair and beard. He talked frequently of his parental home in KY and had a tender regard for their home negroes, three of whom migrated to MO with his mother. Thos Mudd was referred to as "Shanghai Tom" because he was so tall.
Thomas Mudd migrated to MO, near the town of Millwood, in the year 1857. A few years prior to this, three of his brothers preceded him to MO. His father Nicholas Mudd being deceased, his mother, sister, and brother in law Hezekiah Mudd (Abcaaa) and family soon fillowed him to MO leaving one brother, Nicholas Mudd, in KY. In the 1860 census Thomas Mudd age 27 was residing with Hezekiah Mudd family.
1870 census Lincoln Co MO Thomas Mudd 35, farmer, valuation $1500, Imilder 20, Nicholas 4, Herbert 2, Bernina 4/12 (b Feb) and 3 of a negro family.
In 1861 Thomas Mudd purchased from the heirs of his deceased brother Raymond Mudd an 80 ac farm situated 2 1/2 miles east of Millwood MO and on this farm he lived the remainder of his lifetime. The farms of Thomas Mudd and Hezekiah Mudd joined each other.
The will of Thomas Mudd was made 9 Feb 1912 and probated 20 Feb 1912 names his wife Imelda and his children. (Estate #2613 and Will Record 7, pg 138, Lincoln Co MO)"---[1]
