Dorothea Sophia Mummelthei, born 13 Sep 1855 is the same person as Caroline (Mummelthei) Buls because the birth date on baptism record for Dorothea Sophia is 13 Sep 1855 ^[1]and Caroline's Iowa death certificate birth date is 13 Sep1855. ^[21]

There is no baptism record for Caroline; there are no records for Dorothea Sophia after her baptism. The 1856 birth year on Caroline's gravestone ^[13]and obituary ^[3]is incorrect.

Re: Surname spelling
Records show multiple misspellings of surname: Mamelthy, Mumbletie, Mummelthie, Mammelthei, Mammeltey, Mummelhey, Mumeltey. Mumelthei, Mummelthey, Mamiltie, Mesmmattheis.

Re: Emigration
Her obituary says "At the age of seven [1862] she came with her parents to this country and settled in Illinois, later coming to Bremer County." ^[3]This statement cannot be true because her mother died in Germany in 1864.

Re: Letter regarding transcriptions from family historian who lives in Saxony-Anhalt, Federal Republic of Germany: ^[5]

"Neither Johann Friedrich nor his children were baptized [in Genzien]. I have to explain a few things about this. On ancestry, Genzien is presented as an independent church [parish]. That is not right. The evangelical church [parish] Arendsee / Altmark included the city of Arendsee and branches with the villages Genzien, Gestien, Schrampe, Zießau, Ziemendorf, Zühlen and Friedrichsmilde (now belongs to Zießau). All villages had their own church with a churchyard. The baptisms (~), marriages (oo) and funerals (□) took place in the church or churchyard of the place. Johann Friedrich and his children were baptized in the church in Ziemendorf.
