Rebecca D Musick was born in July 1841 in Randolph County, Alabama. She was the daughter of David Musick and Emily Caty Williams.
Rebecca married James B Ridgway on 29 January 1857 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Her father signed permission for the marriage since she was only 15. James was about age 28. They had one child, Emily J Ridgway. James passed away during the American Civil War on 9 June 1862 as a private in the 14th Alabama Infantry Regiment Company H.
On 20 September 1862, Rebecca submitted a claim for James' remaining military pay as his widow, through her attorney, David Clopton. Lucinda Musick (her sister-in-law) and Martha Couch (her sister) signed affidavits of their knowledge of Rebecca being James' widow. Rebecca received a settlement of $86.31 on 12 October 1862. The record stated that at the time of his decease, James had been serving as a soldier and a nurse at the hospital in Richmond.
Rebecca married William S. Rhodes on 24 December 1874 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Rebecca and William had four children: Dora, Alice Izora, William Robert, and Joseph David Rhodes. William passed away in 1911.
Rebecca was living with her daughter, Alice Izora, in the 1920 US Census. This census is her last known record. No death record, obituary, or burial record could be found.
