FALL FROM A TRAM.
CAUSES WOMAN'S DEATH.
A married woman, Mary Ann M'Ghie, on Saturday night met with a tram accident which had a fatal result yesterday morning. The unfortunate woman had been in town shopping, and, carrying some parcels, boarded a car which left Argent street at about 9 o'clock. She apparently intended to leave it in Thomas-street, at the intersection of Chloride-street, but forgot to get out at that stopping-place. When the tram had proceeded about 150 yards she absent-mindedly walked out, and, the tram having a quick way on, she fell heavily to the roadway, which her head struck with considerable force.
The ambulance was summoned, and Mrs. M'Ghie, who was unconscious when picked up, was removed in a critical condition to the Hospital, where it was ascertained that her skull had been fractured. The unfortunate woman succumbed at about 1 o'clock the following morning.
An inquiry into the circumstances of the death will be held at 2 o'clock to-day.
Mrs. M'Ghie, whose home was at North Broken Hill, was a midwife, and at the time of the accident was on her way to a residence in Cummins-street, where she had been for a few days previously. [4]
