Biography

Lelia (Parris) Whitehall is a part of US Black heritage.

Lelia Ada Parris was born on 22 November 1875 in Saint Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, the daughter of Bettie and William Parris.^[1]

On 28 September 1890 she married William Warden Whitehall in Schuyler, Colfax County, Nebraska.^[2]

In 1900 she was living in Schuyler with her husband and two daughters: Eda (age 8) and Gurtie (age 7). William was working as a broom maker.^[3]

In 1910 she was living in Schuyler with her husband and two daughters, Ada (age 18) and Gertrude (age 17). They were living next door to the families of William's brothers Herbert and John Grant Whitehall. William was working as a broom maker at a broom factory.^[4]

Lelia Ada (Parris) Whitehall passed away on 6 January 1916 and was buried at Columbus Cemetery.^[5]

—Mrs. Lelia Ada Whitehall died suddenly at her home at Eighth and Quincy streets Thursday morning. She had been afflicted with paralysis for six years, but her death was due to a stroke of heart trouble. She was married to William Whitehall in Schuyler September 27, 1890, who with their two daughters, Mrs. Crittendon, of Omaha, and Ada Whitehall, of Columbus, survives her. Mrs. Whitehall has lived in Columbus for the past three years while her husband has been running a broom factory at Schuyler. Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday afternoon.^[6]
