Biography

World War II Project
Private Elmer Payton served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Elmer was born in 1924 [1]. He was the son of Arnold Peyton and Sarah Meehling [2].

In 1943, he enlisted and served in the United States Army during World War II, holding the rank of Private [3]. After the war, he married Deloris Ann Sutphin in 1946 [4]. In 1950, they resided in Huntington, West Virginia where he worked as a steel manufacturing laborer [5].

He passed away in 1977 [6] and was buried in the Forest Memorial Park Cemetery in Milton, West Virginia [7].
