Biography

John Pearson was born in Harmony, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, in 1814.

His parents were probably John and Mary Pearson, natives of Ireland, as there was a Sarah "Sally" Jane Pearson, late Serrett, born in Colchester in 1824, and her Find-a-Grave profile says her parents were John and Mary Pearson of Ireland. She seems likely to have been a sister of John, given her date and place of birth, their shared surname, and the fact that John's first wife, Bridget Serrett, was the sister of Sally's husband Peter A. Serrett.

John had one child, a son named David, with Bridget. After her death, he married Nancy McMillan, with whom he had a daughter, Minerva "Minnie" Pearson, later Rath. (David and Minnie were born about twenty years apart).

John Pearson died in Colchester in 1893, aged 79.
