Biography
John Peckett was born in 1718 in Altofts, Normanton and was baptised in Normanton All Saints Parish Church on 12th July 1718.
His father, William, died (age 35) when John was only 3 years old. His mother, Anne, died (age 49) when John was 8 years old.
It is likely that John stayed in the family home in Altofts with his sisters and a guardian (possibly an uncle), before moving to Royston (Nr Barnsley), some time prior to 1743.
John Peckett married Anne Rayner in Royston on 28 Jan 1741. John and Anne had 10 children.
John Peckett (Snr) died in Royston in 1789 aged 71
