Hayes Marion Perritt was born April 10, 1892 to William Morgan Perritt and Virginia Florence Hayes Perritt of Mullins, Marion, South Carolina, USA.[1]
In both the 1900 and 1910 Federal census Marion lived with his parents, William and Virginia, and three siblings, Vance, William and Lela in Marion county , South Carolina.[2][3]
World War I
Marion, described as an unmarried, able bodied man of a medium build with brown eyes and dark hair, registered for the WWI draft on June 5, 1917 in his home town of Mullins, Marion, South Carolina. His employer at the time of his enlistment was Marion County.[4]
He enlisted the next year on February 5, 1918. On February 26, 1918 Marion is listed as a private with the 41st Auxiliary Forestry Battalion leaving the port of New York in Company C. His father, William Perritt of Mullins, South Carolina is the person to be notified in case of emergency.
In 1921, Marion lived in San Francisco at 539 Mason and worked for the United States Forest Service.[7]
On April 25, 1925, Marion in listed on the Manifest of the Wheatland Montana arriving at Seattle, Washington. This ship departed from Yokohama on April 6, 1925. Japan [8]
Marriage
By 1930 Marion, still unmarried, lived in the household of Laura M Siew in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon. He a veteran of WWI worked as a draftsman for U. S. Forest Service.[9]
