Archibald passed away on 30 August 1940 in Luton, Bedfordshire, England.[7][8] He was injured during an air raid on the Vauxhall Motor Works in Luton and died the same day in the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.[9] He was 49 years old.
Archibald was buried later in 1940 at Luton General Cemetery in Luton, Bedfordshire, England.[9] His death is commemorated on the Luton Vauxhall Motors War Memorial.
