Sophia Christina Elisabeth Plaat was born on 2 January 1800. [1] Her parents were Joachim Heinrich Plaat and Catharina Dorothea Büssings. [1] She was baptized on 3 January 1800 in Gressow, Mecklenburg, Germany. [1]

She married Carl Barg on 13 September 1822 in Gressow, Mecklenburg, Germany. [2] They had 5 children:
