Mother: Margaret Carney Father/parent: Joseph Andrew Platz The late Mr. Platz, who was 51 years of age, was an attendant at the Sandy Gallop Mental Hospital. He had not been in good health lately, and had obtained temporary leave from his duties. It is believed that his illness had preyed on his mind, although to his wife and family he had not exhibited signs of moroseness. WAS PROMINENT SPORTSMAN. Mr. Platz, who was born in the Harrisville district, was a member of a well-known West Moreton family. For some years he worked at the North Ipswich railway shops, then, about 20 years ago, he secured a position at the Sandy Gallop Mental Hospital. He was a popular cricketer. In addition to being a prominent member of Normanby and Blair clubs, he was selected one year to play with the Queensland Railways eleven against the New South Wales railways side, In Sydney. He also was a member of the H.A.C.B. Society. He was married twice, and in addition to his wife leaves two sons and one daughter. He also is survived by six brothers and five sisters.
