Research Notes

Henry Porterfield and other family members are also known is also known as Henry Bodyfield in earlier records such as the 1850 U.S. Census.

Some Ancestry.com trees cite James C. Porterfield as his father but these are unsourced and do not align with children stated in The Porterfields (1947) by Frank Burke Porterfield. This line of Porterfields is not mentioned in the Porterfields, which is rather odd given the depth of research this book provides.

The 1850 census lists an apparent 20 year old son, Isaac Bodyfield (abt 1830-). This person is actually Isaac Weimera stepson from an earlier marriage to Sally Nichols.
