Arthur C. Pribbenow, 82, of Staples, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 26, 2000 at the Greater Staples Care Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Christian Center in Motley with Reverend Wendell Meyers officiating. Burial was in the Motley Public Cemetery.

Arthur Carl Pribbenow was born on Feb. 16, 1918, in Long Prairie Minnesota to Otto and Wilhelmina Pribbenow. He grew up in the Staples and Motley areas, attending country school in Motley. He spent eight years in the U.S. Army as a sergeant. He served in India, Burma, China, Korea, Germany, and France. He married Delores (Brown) Larson on June 27, 1964 in Motley. The couple lived in Mound, where Arthur worked at Tonka Toys. He also was a bridge builder, crane operator and carpenter.

In 1979 they moved to a farm just north of Staples. In 1997, they moved into the city of Staples. Arthur enjoyed auctions and garage sales, hunting, and time spent with his family. He belonged to the American Legion and VFW.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Delores; one son, Jerome (Connie) Pribbenow of Lake Wylie, S.C.; three daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Dahl of rockford, Beverly (Glen Vasecka) Hahn of Motley and Bonnie (Wayne) Witkop of Pequot Lakes.

He was preceded in death by Lillian Holub Weishalla, the mother of his children; his parents; a brother, John and sisters, Mabel Thorn and Dorothy Beeson Griffith.
