Biography
Nora Sutherland Priestman was the daughter of Henry B. Priestman and (probably) Alice Priestman [1]. Nora's birth was registered in the Bradford, Yorkshire Registration District in the March quarter of 1885 [2].
In 1891 Nora (aged 6) was living with her brother Austin (aged 7) and sister Kathleen J (aged 3) and two female servants at Fairfield Road, Manningham, Bradford, Yorkshire [3].
In 1901 Nora (aged 16) was living with her father, Henry B Priestman (aged 47, born Thornton Dale, Yorkshire), and siblings John B (21), Muriel (20), Kathleen J (13) and Evangeline (9). All the siblings are recorded as being born in Bradford [4].
Nora married Harold Doncaster Rowntree. Their marriage was registered in the North Brierley district (which spans the outskirts of Bradford to the outskirts of Leeds, West Yorkshire, in the June quarter of 1907 [5].
In 1911 Nora, her husband and their son Ralph Kenway Rowntree (aged 3) together with her sister, Kathleen Isabel Priestman (a visitor, aged 23, born Bradford) were living in Endcliffe, Granville Road, Scarborough with two female servants [6].
In 1930 Nora was living at St James Street, Ripon [7].
In 1939 Nora and Howard were living at 68a Esplanade, Scarborough together with a child (the record is closed due to the age of the person) [8].
Nora died in Scarborough on the 5th November 1950 [9].
