Biography

Gwendoline was the daughter of Arnold and Jessie Priestman. She was probably born at 91 Colney Hatch Lane, Muswell Hill, Middlesex (from parents on 1881 census). Her birth was registered at the Edmonton Register Office, Middlesex, England ^[1].

In 1891 Gwendoline (aged 9, born Maxwell [second letter indistinct] Hill, Middlesex was living with her parents Arnold (aged 37, born Bradford, Yorkshire) and Jessie (aged 31, born Kendal, Westmorland). Arthur's occupation is Artist Painter. They had a housekeeper and a domestic servant ^[2].

In 1901 Gwendoline (aged 19 , born Middlesex [crossed out] London) was living with her parents Arnold (aged 47, born Bradford, Yorkshire) and Jessie (aged 41, born Westminster Standal) at 3 Walmer [first letter indistinct] Villas, Manningham [indistinct] Bradford. Also in the household were her aunt (Arnold's sister-in-law) Lillian Thompson, his nephew Henry R Thompson, a cook and a housemaid. Arnold's occupation is Artist Sculp. He was working from home ^[3]

Gwendoline married Allan Claude Rowntree in Bradford on 12th June 1906 ^[4].

In 1911 Allan and Gwendoline were living or staying with her parents at 3 Walmer Villas, Bradford. ^[5]

In 1939 Gwendoline was living at 1 Garland Hill, Scarborough with her husband, Jessie Priestman, and one female servant. Jessie was a widow, born 5/8/1859, living on private means ^[6].

Gwendoline died in the June Quarter of 1946, her death was registered at Scarborough ^[7].
