L'Abbe Armand was born in Montmagny on 23 March 1904, son of Joseph Alphonse Proulx and Marie Eleanore Bélanger. [1]
He studied theology at Grand Séminaire de Québec, and finished his studies at Collège Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. He was ordained on 29 June 1929 by Cardinal Raymond-Marie Rouleau. [2]
He worked at the l'École d'agriculture de Sainte- Anne-de-la-Pocatière for several years. He also served as vicar for a number of parishes from 1929-1951. In order, he was parish priest in Saint-Adalbert and Saint-Germain de Kamouraska, then served in Saint-Eugène and as chaplain at the Foyer Villa Maria in Saint-Alexandre. In 1969, he retired to the Villa Saint-Jean-de-la-Pocatière. In 1968, he began to publish his numerous genealogical volumes, including "Généalogie des familles Proulx de la Côte du sud (1666– 1976)." It is estimated he published at least 75 texts related to genealogy. [2]
He passed away in La Pocatière on 23 August 1998.[3]
